Five new table grape varieties were bred at the University of Nyíregyháza
Five new table grape varieties were given state-recognized variety ratings that were bred at the University of Nyíregyháza – the institution told MTI on Friday.
The Adria, the Bíró kékje, the Dunav, the Guzal kara and the Szuvenir versions were declared as state-recognized breeds by the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih).
Vágvölgyi Sándor, head of the Nyíregyháza University’s Agricultural Sciences and Environmental Management Department told MTI that the per capita consumption of table grapes is currently only a few kilograms in Hungary, so to increase this amount, there is a need to expand the range of varieties.
