Twelve-month price increase above 5 percent
In May, the monthly average retail price increase was 0.9 percent. Compared to last May, prices increased by 5.1 percent – reports the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
In the first five months of the year, the average price increase was 5.8 percent, compared to the same period of last year. In 1 month compared to April 2010, the food prices increased by 1.1 percent. This growth above average is the result of the 7.6 percent increase in the price of the season priced foodstuffs – otherwise the price of food has not changed since the previous month.
