The digital euro would arrive in five years
The digital euro must be a reality within five years – Origo quotes Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank.
Sufficient time should be allowed to be introduced it safely, but a digital euro would certainly be desirable – Lagarde said at an online conference organized by Reuters. Lagarde said that she hopes it won’t take more than five years. With this schedule, by the way, the President of the ECB projected a similar timeline as China, which had already launched its own digital currency in a pilot project in 2020 and is getting closer to having the world’s first digitally existing sovereign currency.
