Lidl employees join forces to help those in need with clothes
Lidl Hungary employees showed exemplary cooperation. The company announced a charitable clothing collection program for thousands of employees working in all 216 stores, 4 logistics centers and its central office building, the aim of which is to help disadvantaged families and children with clean, good-quality clothes and shoes. As part of the initiative, more than 2,600 kg of textile donations were collected, which the Baptist Charity Service will deliver to those in need in more than 20 settlements.
Social responsibility is of utmost importance to Lidl Hungary, which is why it also tries to provide its employees with the opportunity to actively help those in need. In this spirit, it launched its charity clothing collection program so that clothes and shoes that they no longer use but are in good condition can be put to good use and thus provide support to those in need. The collaboration was exemplary, and colleagues working in the logistics centers, stores and the central office building jointly collected more than 2,600 kg of clothes and shoes. Lidl as a company also contributed to the success of the program: it supplemented the collection with more than 1,700 cardboard boxes of textile and clothing donations, so a total of nearly 78 pallets of donations will be sent to those in need with the help of the Hungarian Baptist Charity Service.
“As a responsible and ethical company, we have been paying special attention to supporting disadvantaged children and their family members for years. Thanks to our donation program, we provide them with support throughout the year, including in the form of non-food donations. This occasion is also special for us because this time we are not only doing good as a company, but our employees have also directly contributed to making the everyday lives of people living in difficult situations easier. We are proud of the Lidl team, who are outstanding not only in their workplace but also in their work for the community”
– stated Judit Tőzsér, the company’s communications manager.
Dr. Béla Szilágyi, president of the Baptist Charity Service, added: “We are grateful to Lidl Hungary for their tireless support for years, and through us, our fellow human beings in difficult circumstances. We would like to thank them in particular that this time the company’s employees also helped, just as they did in the case of the Shoe Box Campaign. With the clothing donation, we will help the 23 most disadvantaged settlements in the country, where we have been present for years and have embraced the poor.”
The donations are already on their way – from Mátészalka through Tatárszentgyörgy to Győr and Székesfehérvár – where the Baptist Charity Service will ensure that the donations reach the right place.
