In Germany, Prime members can now shop for groceries from Knuspr on Amazon
A new online grocery superpower has been formed in Germany, with a partnership between US e-commerce giant Amazon and Knuspr, the German subsidiary of Czech online supermarket group Rohlik.
The service, called “Knuspr on Amazon”, allows customers with an Amazon Prime subscription to place their orders on Amazon’s platform, starting today, for the time being in Berlin. In the coming months, the aim is to expand the service to other German cities, including Munich and the Rhineland-Main region.
Knuspr will offer more than 15,000 products ranging from daily groceries to products from local farmers and artisans on the Amazon platform. Home delivery follows in up to three hours of placing an order in optional one-hour time slots, a significant advantage for customers in terms of speed and choice. The minimum order amount is €39 and free delivery is available for orders over €79.
The agreement with Amazon fits in with the Rohlik Group’s ambitious growth strategy, which aims to achieve revenues of more than €1 billion this year. In the first half of the year, the company recorded a growth of 42%.
The partnership also represents a challenge for Dutch online supermarket Picnic, which is building on its partnership with supermarket chain Edeka to enter the German market.
