Ancient cheese was found in an Egyptian tomb
The world’s oldest hard cheese was found in the grave of Egyptian pharaoh’s tomb – Világgazdaság Online wrote. The 3200-year-old cheese could be made of cattle, goats and sheep milk, but it was infected: scientists have found residues of bacteria in it.
“The material analysed is probably the most ancient archaeological solid residue of cheese ever found to date,” said Dr Enrico Greco, from the University of Catania, who worked with colleagues at the Cairo University in Egypt to determine its identity – BBC reported. (vg.hu)
