The Etesd az Eszed school challenge is expanding to a national level
After last year’s successful trial, the joint health education training program of Nestlé Hungária and Okos Doboz was extended nationwide in October this year. In addition to students, schools and teachers are also awarded with valuable prizes if they successfully learn the basics of a healthy lifestyle during the program lasting several weeks. Any elementary school from all over the country can apply for the program.
In the previous school year, Nestlé Hungária and Okos Doboz launched a pilot health education educational program called Etesd az Eszed in the primary schools of five municipalities. In the previous academic year, the program reached about 1,200 students, who solved more than 93,000 tasks. The program has been expanded with new content, so this year a total of 53 animations, 181 graphic tasks and 10 special videos await students. The essence of Nestlé’s initiative related to the Healthy Kids program is that children can acquire knowledge related to a healthy and sustainable lifestyle in a playful way through online activities. During the challenge, which takes place over several weeks, both participating students and teachers will have access to the newly developed digital educational content, and a special methodological guide has been prepared for teachers to help them in their work. In prize-winning online competitions, students can learn about balanced nutrition and healthy living by watching animations and solving tasks in a playful way. Nestlé Hungária also produced a special video series for the program, specifically targeting 10-14 year olds. In films evoking the world of digital games, messages about water and sugar consumption, eating disorders, and other educational areas come to life along different paths. “Students gain knowledge about healthy body composition, nutrition-related diseases, diets and dietary trends, and sustainable nutrition, but the educational material deals with the basics of conscious shopping, the information on food labels and their proper interpretation,” Diána Sárga explained the details. Dietitian at Nestlé. Although the topics are the same for juniors and seniors, students receive knowledge according to their age and level of knowledge.
“Okos Doboz has been preparing playful tasks for students related to the National Core Curriculum, i.e. the school curriculum, for years, but we have long wanted to create a package dealing with a healthy lifestyle as well. For this, we found a partner with Nestlé and developed this subject and curriculum independent digital education package and the related methodology,” said Dóra Szűcs, managing director of Okos Doboz.
