Optimised packaging from DS Smith
At the Hungaropack 2017 packaging competition DS Smith Packaging Hungary Kft. was rewarded with a Sustainability Award for the boxes designed for the PartyMiiix turkey bites product.
DS Smith developed an optimised collective packaging solution for the product’s manufacturer MAR-NE-VÁLL Kft. – by making changes in the primary product packaging, 8 products can be placed in the collective packaging instead of the former 6. This step increased pallet utilisation from 68 percent to 89 percent. Transportation costs reduced, raw material cost per product decreased and CO2 emission dropped significantly. Products make maximum use of the space available, so no air is transported.
