Cheaper eggs
According to the latest market report of the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI), Hungary’s live cattle export grew by 6 percent in the first month of 2019 (in comparison with January 2018). In the same period our like-for-like live cattle import surged by 67 percent; Hungary was a net exporter of live cattle in this period.
Data by the European Commission indicates that the EU’s like-for-like egg product import approximately halved (representing a volume of 1,100 tons) in January 2019, while egg product export grew by nearly 50 percent to 23,000 tons. At the place of packaging, the price of egg reduced by nearly 20 percent in the first twelve weeks of the year, to EUR 127.6/100kg. In Hungary the price of M+L size eggs dropped 20 percent to HUF 25.03/piece.
French market analyst Tallage reported that wheat’s price decreased considerably in the world market between 8 February and 8 March 2019. In the Asian markets and the Mediterranean region Argentine corn was the most popular in early March. //
