Lower wheat prices
In January the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) published a forecast that says the world’s chicken production will increase by 4.5 percent to 103.5 million tons this year.
According to NAIK AKI PÁIR data, the production price of live weight broiler chicken in Hungary was HUF 254/kg in the first six weeks of 2020, there was no considerable change from the same period of 2019. The European Commission’s data reveal that in the same period the price of whole chicken was EUR 187/100kg in the EU – this price was 2 percent higher than a year earlier; in Hungary this price increased by 3.6 percent to HUF 504/kg.
Also in Hungary the production price of wheat was 11 percent lower on the last week of January, HUF 53,600/ton if calculated without VAT and shipping costs. Domestically grown soybean’s average price was HUF 109,400/ton without VAT and transportation costs. //
