Unlike traditional capsules, the system uses fully compostable coffee balls made from freshly roasted coffee. Already available in Germany and France, Coffee-B will now be sold through illycaffè’s online store and selected retail locations across Italy.
Cristina Scocchia, CEO of illycaffè, called the collaboration with Migros and Coffee B “an important step toward advancing sustainable innovation in the coffee industry.” The system combines Italian coffee tradition with forward-looking technology.
Based on patented brewing technology, Coffee-B aims to reduce packaging waste and simplify recycling. For the U.S., Canadian, and Mexican markets, beverage giant Keurig Dr. Pepper has licensed the Coffee-B brewing system
