Recession hits Italy
In the last 4 years the number of stores fell by 21,320 units in Italy and half of these were grocery stores. Between 2010 and 2014 Italians spent 7.9 percent on groceries. In the same period 21,000 new grocery stores opened but 33,000 went out of business.
