Consumer prices rose in the euro zone and stagnated in the EU
According to the data, the EU’s harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) in the euro area was 0.1 percent in October after the 0.1 percent decline of September in an annual comparison, while the European Union, consumer prices stagnated in October after a 0.1 percent decline in September – the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) announced on Monday.
In a monthly comparison, consumer prices increased by 0.1 percent both in the euro zone and the EU.
On an annual basis, consumer prices prices fell in thirteen EU countries, most significantly in Cyprus (-1.8 percent), Romania (-1.4 percent) and Bulgaria (-1.2 percent) and with the greatest extent in Malta (+1.6 per cent), Belgium (+1.2 percent) and Sweden (+0.9 percent). (MTI)
