Harvest can end until the end of October
So far, about 60 percent of the grapes were harvested by the farmers, so this year's harvest can last until the end of October. Because of the favorable weather conditions, some producers are waiting with the harvest.
The quality of the grapes looks good, but the average volume will be about 10 percent less, about 500-550 thousand tons so three million hectoliters of wine will be produced this year – said Csaba Horváth, the Secretary-General of the National Council of the mountain villages.
In Hungary it is estimated, that in recent months, about 10-15 percent reduction had been occured in the domestic consumption of wine, due to the impact of the recession – reports Origo.
