The government would strengthen ecotourism development
A successful development breathes new life into the region, the Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development stated on Friday in Kisapáti, Veszprém County, at the project opening of the approximately 400 million forint ecotourism development of Szent György-hegy.
Tibor Navracsics said: only investments that are self-identical, landscape-identical and community-identical developments can be implemented. That is, the local people really want them, they serve a community, not a private purpose, they fit into the landscape and preserve the countryside in its entirety and beauty for posterity – he added.
The Minister expressed his pleasure that a consensus had been formed among the settlements of the region on the issue of the Szent György-hegy development.
Tibor Navracsics also spoke about: the Balaton Uplands are famous for their strong and active civil organizations and vibrant cultural life. He expressed his hope that they can show a sustainable model for tourism that can be an example for other regions of the country to follow.
András Rácz, the State Secretary for Nature Conservation at the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that the tasks of nature conservation now go beyond the preservation of protected species and habitats. More and more people are interested in nature walks, hiking, and active tourism, he said.
The State Secretary indicated that today, about half of the 700 ecotourism facilities in Hungary are operated by a national park directorate, with 1.6 million registered visitors. Moreover, a third of these visitors come to the area of the Balaton Uplands National Park Directorate, he added.
