We can use the smartphone to check the food in the store
British researchers have developed low-cost, smartphone-friendly, environmentally friendly sensors for checking the freshness of packaged meats and fish – origo wrote.
Researchers say that the new sensors can help detect spoilage and reduce food waste for both supermarkets and consumers.
One in three British consumers discards food only because it reaches its use-by date, but sixty percent of the 4.2 million tonnes of the 12.5 billion pounds worth food thrown away each year can be safely consumed. (Imperial.ac.uk, origo)
