Only half of the expected quantity of melon was produced
Melon growers will not close a successful year this year: the cool, rainy weather at the time of the harvest has left its mark on the entire season, so half of the expected quantity has been produced, and this drop was only partially offset by higher-than-usual prices.
The melon season is over in the Békés and Baranya regions, and now it is especially came good that the melon harvesting in Szabolcs, which starts later, is phase-delayed due to the later ripening – Gubacsi Zoltán, FruitVeB Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization said.
