Eight million kilograms of domestic watermelon in the Tescos
Tesco buys exclusively watermelons from Hungarian suppliers from July 18 to again. In addition to the 8 million kilograms of domestic watermelon, this year, the chain will export the same amount to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland as well.
Last year, a total of 7 million kilograms of juicy Hungarian watermelon was sold, and this year sales are expected to exceed last year’s volume: Tesco expects to sell 1 million kilos more from domestic watermelons. This season, 100-200 tons of watermelons aere sold per day, while during a warmer summer weekends up to 300-400 tons are consumed.
