After eight years of tourism downturn, huge tourist interest in Baranya county
A sharp increase occured in the number of tourists in Pécs and Baranya county, due to the European Capital of Culture program. 217 percent increase occured in Pécs, 145 in Baranya and 135 percent in the Southern Transdanubia region.
According to Hegyi Zsuzsa, Regional Marketing Director of the Hungarian National Tourist Office for South Transdanubia; in particular the number of German and Austrian tourists have increased in Pécs.
Domestic tourism in Pécs and Baranya increased by 110 percent and in the region by 104 percent, compared to last year – reports MTI.
