Small producers welcome customers with open doors
Small producers across the country are opening their doors to consumers. As part of the Open Door Days, more than 150 family farms, cellars and manufactories will open their doors between August 23 and October 5, 2025, and will guide interested parties to the beauties of rural life, the world of animal husbandry, crop production and gastronomy.
In recent years, successful initiatives have been implemented in several micro-regions, thanks to which local producers have been able to introduce themselves, but this year, consumers will be able to get to know small producers within the framework of a national series of events. The Open Door Days are organized by the Herman Ottó Institute Nonprofit Kft. It is organized by the National Chamber of Agriculture, the Hungarian Cycling Tourism Association, and the Stylish Rural Restaurant Association (SVÉT), the Small Steps Association and the Pannon Local Product Cluster in partnership with the National Rural Development Support Unit. As part of the event series, more than 150 family farms, cellars and manufactories across the country will open their doors between August 23 and October 5, 2025, and guide interested parties to the beauties of rural life, the world of animal husbandry, crop production and gastronomy. As part of the Open Porta Days program series, local product tastings, porta tours, craft activities, workshops – joint pumpkin seed oil pressing and tasting, essential oil production, vegetable fermentation, sourdough bread baking, Szatmár plum jam cooking – and many more experiences await interested parties.
The aim of the series of events is to increase the awareness of agritourism, to promote the visibility of agritourism service providers and the accessibility of experience programs
The organizers’ no secret intention is to support networking and strengthen the relationship between local producers and consumers, and the development of short supply chains through the Open Door Days. Thanks to the series of programs, small producers will receive another tool to become more resilient and competitive by diversifying their agricultural activities and new activities.
