Krisztián Nyáry: ‘Being well-read isn’t a prerequisite of being a successful member of society any more’
Krisztán Nyáry, writer and creative director of Líra Group compared the effects of reading print and digital texts, and talked about the relationship between IQ and reading books, the proliferation of streaming services and several other topics with host Szilvia Krizsó in the Future Talks podcast series. He told that a Tárki survey conducted last year found: there are 800,000 Hungarian adults who read 30-50 books a year.
Mr Nyáry pointed it out that being well-read isn’t a prerequisite of being a successful member of society any more. There are so many books available that it is difficult for readers to find the ones they like. He also talked about his own reading habits, the book he is currently writing, his podcast, why the Harry Potter series is a gateway drug and the risks of being in the publishing business.
