In November, you had to pay 27.1 percent more for food in the Czech Republic
Annual inflation in the Czech Republic rose to 16.2 percent in November from 15.1 percent in October, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Monday in Prague. The housing costs were the most expensive, and you also had to pay 27.1 percent more for food.
The increase in inflation is slightly higher than expected, analysts predicted an increase of a few tenths of a percent. In a monthly comparison, the price increase in the Czech Republic was 1.2 percent in November.
“In November, consumer prices rose by 1.2 percent month-on-month and by 16.2 percent year-on-year. The average price level therefore rose again after a month of calm. This was also influenced by the fact that last year’s base for comparison was lower, when the central electricity and natural gas tax”
– Pavla Sedivá, director of the statistical office, explained to journalists.
Flour became more expensive by 48 percent, preserved milk by 53 percent, and eggs by 72 percent. The price increase for hotel and restaurant services is 26 percent.
