Growing cheese-export tendencies within the EU
Domestic consumption of cheese within the 27 countries of the European Union for 2010 is expected to recover after a drop in 2009 due to better prospects for the EU's economy, the US government points out in a report.
Exports of cheese, meanwhile, are forecast to increase this year and in 2011 due to growing world demand, mainly from Russia (In H1 exports of cheese to Russia increased 38%).
Cheese production is also expected to benefit from the recovery in consumption and from growing export demand. As a result, 2010 production is seen 2% higher this year.
