Hungary’s fisheries sector on a growth track
The Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the Hungarian Association of Fish Farmers and Fisheries Water Management (MAHAL) signed a cooperation agreement in Kisbajcs. NAK president Balázs Győrffy told that the main objective of the agreement is to put Hungarians’ shockingly low per capita fish consumption – 4.5kg, while the EU average is 22kg – on a growth track, which can’t be done without developing fish farming and processing, and popularising fish products. MAHAL president István Németh emphasised that increasing fish consumption is crucial from a public health perspective too.
