The General Assembly of the Hungarian Advertising Association elected Péter Novák as the president of the association for the upcoming three-year term (October 2024 – October 2027).

After 6 years, Péter Novák replaces János Gulyás, CEO of Wavemaker Hungary, as president. At the general assembly held in the Premier Kultcafé, the membership of the Advertising Association elected the members of its 24-member Board, as well as 3 members of the Supervisory Board. The MRSZ’s three vice-chairs can be occupied by Ádám Mérő (Coca-Cola Magyarország Kft.) as the delegate of advertisers, Gabriella Vidus (M-RTL Televízió Zrt.) as the head of the media sector, and János Gulyás (Wavemaker Hungary Kft.) in the service sector by the following period. At the beginning of the general meeting, Péter Hivatal, who was saying goodbye to his work as an official in the Advertising Association after nearly 20 years, was awarded by the former presidency of the Advertising Association with the MRSZ Honorary Hereditary Member award.

During his report on his presidency between December 2018 and October 2024, the outgoing president János Gulyás mentioned that the profession and the organization have had another busy 6 years. He added that he is satisfied that the professional organization was able to help the industry with additional results with its extremely active interest representation activities during this period as well – without the need for completeness – by placing the advertising industry on the government’s strategic map; excelling in government measures to reduce the burden of communication actors and supporting the sector during COVID; and finally in 2019, the suspension of the advertising tax was also achieved; while a real professional dialogue has developed with the government and regulators on certain topics and matters over many years, which is now being shown precisely in connection with the regulation of public space.

“Of course, these results are not only due to the work of the president, but also to the joint successes achieved with MRSZ officials (e.g. executive and board members, department heads) active in these two terms: I thank all those who worked as advertising association officials between 2019-2024. I am particularly proud of the fact that the MRSZ is a transparent and democratic professional organization whose constitution stipulates that after two (3-year) presidential terms, the same person cannot stand for election or be nominated. That is why I am now handing over the baton as president, but I will remain active in the association as a member.”

János Gulyás concluded his 6-year presidential report at the general meeting.
