Sales growth in both the winter holiday period and this year
Wiener sales traditionally surge in the November-December period, for instance last year both value and volume sales augmented by 11 percent from the level of the previous two months. In this period consumers spent more than HUF 6 billion on wiener, 5 percent more than a year ago; volume-wise sales amounted to 5,500 tons – 14 percent more than in the base period. The volume weighted average price was down 8 percent at HUF 1,114/kg. In the first half of 2015 sales neared HUF 18 billion (up 5 percent) and 16,000 tons (up 10 percent); the volume weighted average price was HUF 1,151/kg (up 4 percent). Pre-packaged wiener’s share from sales was 78 percent. The 401-2,500m² channel realised 49 percent of wiener value sales.
