A growth in the euro zone’s merchandise trade surplus
The European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat calculated that in November 2016, the exports of goods of the euro zone to the rest of the world increased by 6 percent to 184.2 billion euros, compared to 2015 and its goods imports rose by 5 percent to 158.3 billion euros.
The euro area goods trade surplus rose to 25.9 billion euros from the 22.9 billion euros of November 2015. The market expected 22 billion euros surplus.
The merchandise trade between the member countries of the euro area amounted to 154.0 billion euros in November 2016, which is 5 percent higher than a year before. (MTI)
