The sales and profits of Szerencsejáték Zrt. increased last year
Szerencsejáték Zrt. achieved a net sales revenue of 1,235 billion forints last year, 26.1 percent more than the previous year, and net gaming revenue less winnings increased by 12.1 percent, the company informed MTI on Thursday.
According to the announcement, the company’s EBITDA indicator (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was 57.6 billion, and the after-tax profit increased to 50.3 billion forints. The company paid a total of 178 billion forints in taxes, contributions, fees and dividends to the central budget, 4.6 percent more than in 2023.
On average, more than 2.5 billion forints in winnings were paid to players per day last year, which amounted to 929.5 billion forints on an annual basis.
Nearly two-thirds of the revenue was accounted for by the combined turnover of terrestrial sales channels, which is an increase of almost 10 percent compared to the previous year. Interactive sales revenues increased significantly, by over 50 percent, as a result of continuous developments.
Among the product segments, terrestrial and online sports betting increased the most, by almost 40 percent. Number games closed the year with an increase of almost 17 percent, while lottery tickets saw a minimal increase of 1.6 percent compared to the previous year. The performance reflects the development of player needs, with a continuous shift towards betting-type products – highlighted Szerencsejáték Zrt.
A total of 7,196 players took home millions or billions of kunas last year. The Five-Number Lottery jackpot has been hit twice, the largest jackpot of all time was drawn in the Scandinavian Lotto, and a record win was also won in the Keno game – the announcement reads.
