Retail sales grew in Romania
The volume of retail sales grew by 6.9 percent in Romania in the first nine months of the year, compared to the same period of the last year – the Romanian National Statistics Institute announced on Tuesday.
The increase (16.3 percent growth) is mainly due to the sales expansion of the food, beverages and tobacco products. Fuel sales increased by 5.4 percent, while the sales of non-food products increased by 0.6 percent.
In September, the annual growth in retail trade was 12 percent, after the food, beverages and tobacco sales were 27 percent higher, compared to last year's ninth month. In September, the volume of retail sales was 0.6 percent lower, compared to the previous month. (MTI)
