Retail sales in the euro area and the European Union increased in November in a monthly comparison.

Retail turnover in Hungary increased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis
The statistical office of the European Union, Eurostat, announced on Friday that in November retail sales in the euro area increased by 0.8 percent and in the European Union by 0.9 percent compared to October, when it increased by 1.5 percent in the euro area and by 1 percent in the EU. .4 percent decrease in traffic was registered compared to September.
In an annual comparison, retail turnover in the euro area fell by 2.8 percent in November after a 2.6 percent decrease in October, while in the EU it shrank by 2.4 percent in November after a 2.3 percent decrease in October.
Compared to October, retail sales increased the most in Spain, by 3.6 percent, in November, as well as in Poland (2.6 percent) and Sweden (2.3 percent).
On a monthly basis, the retail turnover decreased most significantly in Luxembourg (-2 percent), France and Croatia (-1 percent respectively), and in Slovenia (-0.5 percent).
In November, on an annual basis, the retail turnover increased the most in Latvia, by 10.7 percent. The second largest increase was in Slovenia with 7.5 percent, followed by Poland with 5.7 percent. The most significant annual decrease was in Denmark, 7.4 percent, followed by 6 percent in Belgium and 5.7 percent in Germany.
In Hungary, retail sales increased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis, and by 0.6 percent year-on-year in November – according to the data on the Eurostat website.
