Retail sales in the euro area and the European Union increased in both monthly and annual comparisons in March.
According to data published on Tuesday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, in March retail sales in the euro area increased by 0.8 percent, the fastest rate since September 2022, by 0.8 percent, more than the 0.6 percent expected by analysts, and by 1.2 percent in the European Union. increased compared to February, when a 0.3 percent decrease in traffic in the euro area and a 0.1 percent decrease in the EU was registered compared to January.
Compared to the previous month in the European Union, the retail turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.8 percent in March, with the exception of fuel, non-food products increased by 0.5 percent, and fuel by 1.5 percent.
