Increase in retail sales in the EU and in the euro area as well
In August, on a monthly basis retail sales rose by 1.4 percent in the European Union (EU) and by 1.2 percent in the euro zone – Eurostat’s Friday statement reveals.
In the EU the sales of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products grew by 0.3 percent, while the sales of fuels by 1.4 percent, the sales of other products (clothing, electronic devices, pharmaceuticals) by 2.1 percent.
In the euro zone, the sales of foods, alcoholic drinks and tobacco products rose by 0.6 percent the sales of fuels by 1.7 percent, the sales of other products (clothing, electronic devices, pharmaceuticals) by 1.5 percent. (MTI)
