The K&H sustainability index increased
K&H’s sustainability index increased by two points to 40 points, K&H announced based on its latest survey.
According to the survey, the Hungarian corporate sector is open and sensitive to the topic of sustainability, but real action is often lacking – they added.
According to the research, the number of companies preparing a sustainability strategy or planning one is increasing
More and more people measure their own environmental pollution, but few prepare a sustainability report audited by an independent expert, and few set a target date for carbon neutrality. For the time being, domestic companies are primarily trying to save on their costs, so they are trying to use less paper, energy and water. The thrifty approach is supported by the fact that very few companies spend on purchasing so-called “green” energy, which comes from renewable sources, but is also more expensive, they added.
Since 2022, K&H has been conducting a comprehensive survey of Hungarian companies on sustainability twice a year, in spring and autumn.
In this, 360 representatives responsible for sustainability of medium and large companies with annual sales exceeding HUF 300 million were interviewed over the phone. The most recent data collection was between October 17 and November 9, 2022. In the announcement, it was mentioned that researchers specializing in climate change at the international level have also started to measure and rank the performance of individual countries in relation to climate change: the joint project of Yale and Columbia University is the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), which, by comparing 40 indicators, ranks the 180 countries of the world.
Based on the international survey, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Finland lead the world in the implementation of sustainability aspects, Vietnam, Myanmar and India are at the bottom of the ranking; Hungary is in 33rd place – the announcement states.
