The number of people taking trains to Lake Balaton has increased
From the middle of June, the high-season railway timetable brought a significant increase in supply, the scorching heat and the festival season starting on the lakeside also made a big impact on the traffic of Balaton trains, the Ministry of Technology and Industry (TIM) wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
They pointed out that it will be worth looking at the spectacularly rising figures after the first full month, but it is already clear that more people traveled by train to the Lake Balaton than ever before.
According to MÁV-START’s data, in the two weeks following the summer schedule change on June 18, compared to 258,000 in 2019 and 310,000 last year, 458,000 people chose the railway to the lake shore. (MTI)
