Márton Nobilis: the food industry is an important strategic sector
The food industry is an important strategic sector, which also determines the sovereignty of a country – said Márton Nobilis, the State Secretary responsible for the food industry and trade policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, on Friday evening in Sopron, at the opening of the economic policy conference called iCon.
The state secretary said that the coronavirus epidemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war also highlighted all of this. He added that the country is in a good position in terms of the support and development of the entire segment of the food industry, because European Union funds have already arrived for agriculture. And the food industry represents a strong part, he said.
Márton Nobilis also touched on the fact that they examined the European countries where the food industry is strong and found that support in those countries is provided from top to bottom. Large companies are primarily supported, which drag smaller ones along with them. That is why the plan of the National Champions program was created, he said.
