Increase in alcohol taxes, tighter controls
The alcohol tax rate will be increased next year. Tighter controls are expected in the pálinka breweries during the autumn, and new security locks will be used on the equipments.
Currently, the alcohol tax at 50 degrees pálinkas is 628 HUF per liter. From next year it will change to 690 HUF per liter. Distilleries were also checked during the summer, and several individuals also were penalized because brewing more than the reduced quantity and using reduced taxes despite this – reports Origo.
