Auchan Kedvenc brand crumbled tarragon has been recalled and withdrawn from circulation by Auchan Hungary Trading Ltd. because self-checks found PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) content above the limit value in the product, and certain groups of these compounds are carcinogenic – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) announced to MTI on Wednesday.

The authority requests that anyone who purchased the 6-gram package, with the batch identifier L1009252 and the best before date of 2027/03/12 spice and is still in your possession, do not consume it.

According to the statement, Auchan, in cooperation with the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority, immediately took the necessary measures, withdrew the affected items from circulation and recalled them from consumers.

The authority is monitoring the measures taken by the company and the further fate of the recalled products (destruction or transportation).

The authority explains: PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) can enter food in several ways, mainly through high-temperature processing, such as smoking, are formed during drying. They can occur in particular in fish and fishery products due to environmental pollution, and can also be transferred to food from contaminated packaging.

Some groups of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon compounds are carcinogenic, some of them are harmful to the fetus and the immune system, and also have an irritating and allergenic effect

– the authority explained in its statement.

Auchan emphasized on its website that customers should not consume the recalled crumbled tarragon, but should return it to any Auchan store, where the full purchase price of the products will be refunded, even without a block.
