NKFH: Cape Herb & Spice grinders recalled by distributor
The distributor has recalled Cape Herb & Spice grinder spices because a defect in the grinding mechanism may cause plastic pieces to get into the food during use. The products have also arrived in Hungary, and the distributor Nyester Kft. immediately took the necessary measures to recall them – the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the information, the measure affects Cape Herb & Spice 190 grams of garlic chili spice mix, 185 grams of large-grained black pepper, 240 grams of general spice mix, 390 grams of Himalayan pink salt, 230 grams of smoke-flavored sweet BBQ spice mix, 360 grams of sea salt, 310 grams of salt & pepper mix.
The National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) emphasized in its statement that in order to protect Hungarian families and consumers, the authority took the necessary steps, warned the distributor of the affected products, and ensured the recall of the products.
The authority detailed that they received information through the food and feed safety system operating in the EU member states, in which they drew attention to the error.
Nyester Kft., in cooperation with the NKFH, immediately took the necessary measures within its own jurisdiction, notified its partners, ensured the withdrawal of the disputed item from circulation and its recall from consumers. The authority will supervise the measures taken by the company and the further fate of the recalled products – destruction or removal – the statement said.
