Spar Hungary Kft., in cooperation with the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority, immediately took the necessary measures within its own competence, ensuring the withdrawal of the disputed item from circulation and its recall from consumers. Plant protection products – also known as pesticides – are chemical or biological substances that can be used to destroy living organisms classified as pests by humans, i.e. they are poisonous by nature.

The use of pesticides is an integral part of today’s agriculture, the aim of their use is to increase crop yields and improve quality. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) sets limits for the maximum permitted pesticide residues in food based on risk assessments, these limits must be strictly observed and adhered to, and the authorities of the member states continuously monitor compliance with the regulations – the statement explained.
