NKFH: the consumer protection partnership protects the interests of Hungarian families and law-abiding businesses
Consumer protection official inspections are ongoing throughout the year, which government agencies conduct in the interest of Hungarian families and law-abiding businesses, the National Trade and Consumer Protection Authority (NKFH) told MTI on Friday.
The national inspections are carried out based on uniform rules, taking into account the interests of buyers and sellers. The NKFH and the government agencies under its professional management, acting under the authority of consumer protection authorities, are also continuously present in traditional trade in addition to inspecting electronic commerce, they wrote.
According to the announcement, their inspections range from price display to rules on sale products to compliance with provisions related to complaint handling. In addition to grocery store chains, smaller grocery stores, markets and fast food restaurants, government agency employees also inspect specialty stores selling certain special products.
In order to support businesses that strive to comply with the law, the consumer protection authority generally only issues a warning in the event of a first-time violation. Fines are only imposed in the event of repeated or more serious violations as defined by law.
According to the statement, President István Pintér said that in addition to promoting consumer awareness, the NKFH also strives to strengthen business compliance, and therefore cooperates in the spirit of mutual trust with all businesses and business interest organizations that work to comply with legal provisions and ensure consumer satisfaction.
