Nielsen: an increase in the weight of large stores in food-retailing
Food retail trade reached an around 1620 billion HUF turnover between December 2015 and November 2016, 2 percent more than during the same period of the previous year.
Nielsen’s Retail Index measuring ninety product categories reveals that in terms of volume, retail sales decreased by 1 percent.
Among the twenty most traded food categories, the value of sales increased in fifteen categories, while sales stagnated in one and declined in four categories. Above average sales (between 4-8 percent rise in sales) occured at the following categories: cheese, fruit juice, biscuits, dog food, cooking oil, energy and sports drinks and cat food.
