The value of international retail chains increased by 25 percent in value due to fears of the COVID-19 coronavirus between February 24 and March 1, 2020.
According to scanned data from retail chains, domestic consumers mainly consumed health products and durable foods. There was a 142 percent increase in toilet and hygiene products and a 91 percent increase in disinfectants over the same period last year. Foods included sugar, flour and dry pasta, according to Nielsen’s summary of hyper, supermarket and drug stores scanned data.
