Nielsen: Breakthrough Innovations
Ariel, Garnier, Nivea, Lay's, L'Oréal, Scholl, Vanish new products and other selected brands are included in Nielsen's “Breakthrough Innovations 2015” report. Nielsen has analyzed the performance of close to 24.500 product elements of more than 8650 different new products in Europe.
Out of these, only eighteen products met the three conditions under which a product that was introduced in retail trade is considered as a breakthrough innovation. One: it has to be a real novelty, not only a version of an existing product. Second: it should reach 10 million euros or 10 million pounds turnover in the first year. In addition, it should keep at least 90 percent of the turnover in the second year as well.
