Nielsen: ways to be different
A presentation about consumer expectations in retail was held by Sabine Schnell, director of Nielsen retail services in Germany. Retailers in the future will try to be distinctive compared to their competitors, though this will not be easy, as different store types seem to be converging in Germany. Consumers will see more or less similar stores when they try to decide which store to visit. However, the areas where stores can find ways to be different from competitors can be defined. Diversity of assortment, convenience or the store environment are examples.
