NGM: fixed 3 percent SME loan launched on October 6
The government is doing everything it can to support domestic SMEs and boost industry. Therefore, we have expanded the 100 new factory program to 150, and through the Demján Sándor Program, we are supporting the growth of domestic SMEs and increasing their productivity with more than 1,400 billion forints of resources – the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) wrote in its commentary on the latest industrial statistics data on Tuesday.
However, the government did not stop there, as of October 6, 2025 Within the framework of the Széchenyi Card Program, seven products are available to businesses with a fixed interest rate of 3 percent. “Thus, we continue to work to preserve the financial stability of SMEs, support their investments and increase their competitiveness” – they added.
They cited data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), according to which the volume of industrial production in August 2025, adjusted for working day effects, fell by 4.6 percent compared to a year earlier, while it decreased by 2.3 percent compared to the previous month. Among the most important sub-sectors, the production of computers, electronics, and optical products expanded.
They also mentioned that the Tisza Party had failed, and in addition to the brutal multi-rate income tax increase – at the behest of Brussels – they would also raise the corporate tax of Hungarian businesses, so that the money collected would be used to support Ukraine and multinational companies. Tisza would increase the tax burden on working people and ruin domestic businesses, which would result in wage cuts and layoffs, thereby endangering Hungarian industry.
Contrary to Tisza’s leaked plan, we will not take money from families and businesses, but will support them with commitment. Therefore, in order to boost industry, the government has expanded the 100 new factories program to 150, which could affect investments worth more than 10,000 billion forints. In addition, under the Demján Sándor Program, we are supporting the growth of domestic SMEs and increasing their productivity with more than 1,400 billion forints of resources, thereby strengthening Hungarian industry – they wrote.
They added: however, the government did not stop there, as of October 6, 2025, seven products will be available to businesses under the Széchenyi Card Program with a uniform fixed interest rate of 3 percent. For each product of the program, 150 million forints of resources are available per enterprise, which ensures that businesses can benefit from an appropriate level of support regardless of size and sector. The interest rate reduction could mean savings of up to 1.5 million forints for a 100 million forint loan. The government’s goal remains to preserve the financial stability of SMEs, support their investments, and thereby increase their productivity and competitiveness, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced.
