NGM: tourism performed better than ever before in July
Tourism performed better than ever before in July – stated the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) based on the latest figures published on Thursday.
The announcement cites data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH) and the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), according to which nearly 2.4 million visitors used the services of Hungarian accommodation in July 2024, which is 4.1 percent more compared to the same period of last year’s record year . In the seventh month of the year, the hotels registered more than 6.6 million guest nights, which represents a 2 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Domestic tourists (1.3 million) accounted for more than half of the outstanding guest traffic, who spent nearly 3.9 million nights in domestic accommodations, while 44 percent of visitors came from across the country’s borders. The number of tourists from abroad reached 1 million, which was 11 percent higher than in the same period last year, while the 2.8 million guest nights they spent show a 5.4 percent increase compared to the results of 2023.
