NGM: retail sales also increased on a monthly basis in December
According to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office (KSH), in December 2023, retail sales were able to increase for the second month in a row compared to the previous month, i.e. at the end of 2023, consumption was small, but it had already picked up – this is how the Ministry of National Economy commented on the latest data in its announcement on Tuesday (NGM).
As you reminded me: the turnover rose by 0.8 percent on a monthly basis in November, and by 1.4 percent in December, i.e., the dynamics of growth expanded substantially.
Looking at the data, it can also be highlighted as a positive that compared to the previous year, the retail turnover decreased by only 0.2 percent in December, which was the most favorable result in 2023 on the one hand, and on the other hand, it represents a significant improvement compared to the 5.4 percent year-on-year decrease in November. .
The NGM emphasized that in 2023, the government successfully suppressed inflation.
