NGM: public confidence is strengthening, domestic tourism closed a record year in 2024
The number of guest nights spent by foreign guests in Budapest increased significantly, by nearly 20 percent.
As a result of the increased desire to travel, the income of accommodation facilities approached 90 billion forints, which was 22.3 percent more than in 2023. Of this, 40.2 billion forints were spent by guests in the countryside, where income exceeded the previous year by 11.3 percent.
A total of 166.2 billion forints was generated in hospitality establishments, which represents a 10.4 percent increase compared to the last month of the previous year.
It was also noted that a total of 18 million guests arrived at Hungarian accommodation facilities in 2024, which was nearly 11 percent more than in 2023. The number of domestic guests was approximately 9.3 million, while 8.7 million guests arrived in our country from abroad.
For the year as a whole, the number of domestic guests increased by 5.2 percent, and the number of guests arriving from abroad by more than 17 percent. In January-December 2024, domestic accommodation establishments registered a total of 44.2 million guest nights, which was nearly 6 percent more than the previous year.
