NGM: the performance of the tourism sector is growing dynamically
The performance of the tourism sector is growing dynamically, the number of guests and guest nights also increased significantly in March – the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) told MTI on Tuesday.
According to the announcement, based on the latest data from the Central Statistical Office and the National Tourist Information Center, the number of guest nights and guests increased dynamically in March 2024. In March 2024, more than 1.1 million guests arrived at Hungarian accommodations, their number increased by 30 percent in one year. In the third month of the year, almost 2.8 million guest nights were registered by domestic hotels, which was 25 percent higher than in March 2023, they wrote.
58 percent of the country’s total accommodation traffic was registered in rural areas, which was 21 percent higher than at this time a year ago. Accommodations accounted for 71 percent of rural guest nights to domestic guests. Balaton was also the most popular tourist area in March, 22 percent of rural guest nights were spent here, the announcement states.
