NGM: retail turnover on an expanding path
According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the volume of retail sales in June 2025 was 3% higher than in the same period of the previous year. According to the Ministry of National Economy, this growth may have been supported by tax cuts, family support measures, and the increase in real wages.
Sales in food stores increased by 3.7%, while non-food retail saw a 3.9% rise. Nationwide, the total value of retail turnover reached HUF 1,702 billion. To stimulate consumption, the government implemented several measures, including the extension of personal income tax benefits, an increase in family tax allowances, and margin reductions on certain product categories.
